The Star Wars myth in painting
A few days before the release of the9th installment of the star wars saga, I have the pleasure of presenting my new creations inspired by star wars.
Star Wars or the Manichean vision of the world.
The painting entitled “The Shadow of Vader” illustrates this perpetual opposition between good and evil. The whole saga was built on the duality and doubts of the main characters in the face of their emotions. The shadow of evil is everywhere, underlying and subjective. This subjectivity makes Darth Vader, one of the most iconic and appreciated characters of the saga. Even today, the characters, old and new, carry his evil legacy in their blood as an indelible mark.
Star Wars or the Manichean vision of the world.
Few characters have been so worked on and shaped in the history of cinema. If Han Solo is a friendly and endearing man, Darth Vader or rather Anakin is more complex, a character deeply humanistic but damaged by life. The absence of his father, a difficult life, his unwavering will to survive have made Anakin a different, endearing, very independent child. This sensitive and selfless child will become a rebellious teenager, undermined by the rigorous, measured and binding framework of the Jedis. Anakin is a man of action, spontaneous and impulsive, an intergalactic adventurer at the opposite end of the way of the wisdom and serenity of his masters. The irreparable, he will commit to become one of the favorite villains of history. During his life in black, Anakin-turned-Darth Vader seeks to prove his wickedness through his murderous actions and thus repress his incessant doubts.
Star Wars characters forever in the history of cinema
A study by Challenge magazine in 2015 places 2 characters from the Star Wars saga in the 10 most significant characters in the history of cinema. They rub shoulders in this ranking James Bond or Indiana Jones.
When you think about it, it’s not surprising at all given how much this saga has shaped the history of cinema. But will the new characters have the same longevity as Darth Vader, Yoda, Han Solo, or Luke Skywalker?
Indeed, an actor from the saga appears twice in this ranking: Harrison Ford for his roles in two of the most iconic sagas in cinema history (Star Wars, of course, and Indiana Jones).
Star Wars, more than 40 years of special effects
For 40 years, we have been navigating back and forth in the exploration and discovery of the fascinating characters in the series. Set in order, it tells the story of Leia, Luke, Yoda and their heirs. New characters appear and others disappear but the heart remains the same.
Episode 7 is the transition episode. If finding Harrison Ford, the late Carrie Fisher or Mark Hamill was the culmination and consecration of the work undertaken by George Lucas in the 1970s. It also marks the transfer of power between generations as Luke Skywalker did in his time with his master Obi Wan Kenobi.
Discover in the video below, the tricks and special effects of episode 4 of Star Wars.
Star Wars, science fiction with a big show
The saga, pioneer in the realism of special effects, did not take a wrinkle unlike the characters. Always at the forefront of digital technologies, Lucas Films and Disney have allocated colossal budgets to carefully improve the realism of their scenes and offer an unforgettable cinematic experience.
In its time, Episode IV of 1977 shook the world of science fiction with the assault of the death star by the X-wings. Launched at the speed of light, they perform loops and other aerial acrobatics to the delight of the mudized public. Awarded 6 Oscars in 1978, it will forever be the first major show film in the history of cinema.
Star Wars or the story of humanity with unusual alien characters
An inspiration and a critical look at colonization
The greatest intergalactic adventure is also distinguished by the singularity and originality of its characters. There are no great sagas without heroes or villains in a world dominated by men and empire. Lucas thus carries a futuristic vision on the colonialism of Western empires. The terms slavery, trafficking and postage are regularly distilled into the saga. The empire represents oppression towards colonized populations. Through his murderous acts, he gives a reason to be to rebels in love with freedom and justice. Faced with oppression, the alliance composed of humans and many colorful species like the Ewoks or Wookiees (Chewbacca’s family) unite their forces to restore the republic.
There is a profound humanist message in this struggle for freedom. The recipes are always the same since the first episode: an ounce of tolerance, a zest of solidarity, a touch of madness and a pinch of bravery, these are the values of the heroes.
The fascinating planets of Star Wars and ..... so close to the earth
Star Wars moves from planet to planet as the empire’s adventures and relentless hunt for the rebels. An illustration of infinite space and earthly beauty, each planet is nevertheless a vision of our own living environment. The ones described in Star Wars are a portion of our majestic land that we are constantly weakening.
- Tattoine is desert.
- Dagobah, Yoda’s refuge, is a vast swampy and misty jungle.
- Endor, the planet on which Darth Vader is cremated, is mountainous and wild.
- Mustafar, where the fight between Anakin and Owi Wan Kenobi takes place, is volcanic.
- Kashyyyk, the home planet of the Wookies is mountainous and lush.
Just to remind us how beautiful our planet is.
Starwars revisited: the history of Pandawan
This topic of species and planet preservation was my first Star Wars topic. Indeed, a few months ago I presented my Pandawan to highlight the fragility of this legendary species. It is also one of the symbols of the protection of animals put at risk by the expansion of humanity. To meditate ……
